Scouts Honor!

Move over, Girl Scouts! (you can leave the cookies, though.)

The Boy Scouts have taken over and they’re looking sharper (and cuter) than ever! I had the incredible opportunity to spend an afternoon with the boy scouts from my church last week. Dave, their fearless leader, bought a photo session through a service auction fundraiser a few months ago because he wanted the boys to have a keepsake of their time together.

It was nothing but great fun and laughter as the scouts tumbled and rumbled in the park. It didn’t take long for them to warm up to the camera, especially when I asked about their favorite superhero. Well, we got superheroes alright, and a whole lot more!

Sally Maternity Session

When Sharlene approached me about a maternity photo session as a gift for her friend, I was impressed by such a thoughtful idea. These were her friends from college, she explained, and as an up-and-coming makeup artist, she was excited about getting her friend all dolled up.

We had a wonderful time with Sally and Ralph that day. You could tell that Ralph would be a great dad; he got a head start with communicating to his kid in utero (see below)!

Congrats Sally and Ralph!

Bryant Park Carousel Birthday

It was a lovely afternoon in Bryant Park and by 3:30 p.m. the carousel was filled with some of the cutest kids ever. Clover’s mom put together a beautiful party — complete with cupcakes, gift bags, and unlimited carousel rides, of course. With Clover turning 3 and her upcoming debut as big sister, there’s a lot to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Clover!

Central Park Proposal

If you happened to be in Central Park this past Tuesday and saw a girl with a big camera hiding behind a tree, seemingly fixated on a happy couple enjoying a picnic in the distance … well, I’m proud to say, that’s no other than yours truly. Tommy called earlier and asked if I could follow them discreetly through an afternoon in the park before he proposed. I told him I had my military camouflage ready.

(To be honest, I’ve never felt more like the paparazzi or some crazy stalker. But hey, it’s New York — I blend right in!)

What was surprising, however, was being caught “red-handed” by Patty when she was on her way back from the bathroom, right BEFORE Tommy was about to pop the question (you can see his reaction below). We both thought she would be returning from another direction and I was doing my best to remain hidden, but next thing you know I hear Patty calling my name from behind.

“Hey Winnie, what are you doing here?”

“Er…” (I’m blushing and trying to cover my camera gear with my free hand )
“I’m just… waiting for some friends here…” (awkward!!)

If you know me, you know that I’m probably the world’s worst liar. Thankfully Patty took the bait and moved on. Tommy then proposed with a pre-recorded message on his iphone recounting highlights of their relationship and eventually got on one knee. It was incredibly sweet and precious.

Congratulations, you two! I’m SO thankful to be a part of your engagement story, albeit in a random stalkerish way. All the best to the journey toward marriage and happily ever after!

Totally F.A.B.

So, I got a piece of Fashion Week by covering the Fashion, Art, and Beauty (FAB) philanthropic party at the Flatiron Hotel this year. I felt instantly cooler just by stepping into this trendy boutique hotel (check out the tropical fish tank!), and I was honored to tag-team with photographers Albert and Angel to capture the evening’s events. I couldn’t help but smile at how all the models were instantly “on” when I approached them with my camera. RAWRrrr.

Congrats to designers  Sandra BaqueroJohnny Russia, Christine Leitner.
