Jovita & Charles Maternity Session

We weren't sure if the sun would appear on that gray and dreary morning. Thankfully the clouds rolled away just in time for our shoot at Fort Totten Park. It was so fun getting to know this sweet couple -- their love for each other and the baby was unmistakable.  We even had time for ice cream! Congratulations, Jovita and Charles!

Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Session -- John and Julie

I had the chance to take engagement photos for my dear friend Julie and John during the Christmas break (alas, this post is very very late, and they actually just tied the knot over a week ago!). I can't tell you how happy it made me to see them so in love and so happy together. And, because I love Julie very much, I really wanted to capture their relationship well. Here are a few snaps from the day.

Congratulations, Julie and John! Here's to a lifetime of snuggles and keeping each other warm on cold days. New York will always have a place for you!

Abigail Birthday Cakesmash

After a brief hiatus from photography these past months, it's been so fun to pick up my camera again and this time, to celebrate Abigail's first birthday!

I first 'met' her while she was still in her mom's tummy, and a year later, here she is with her first two teeth and just the cutest smile. Abby got the party started with her very own cake smash -- I'm now convinced that it's the best way to eat cake. We then went to the park for some fun in the sun. Happy Birthday, baby girl! You are dearly dearly loved.

Baby Nathan Portrait Session

It's been so fun venturing into the world of newborn photography! I got to meet the adorable but slightly grumpy Nathan right after he woke up from his nap. Don't worry buddy, I feel the same way after a nap too. But after much cooing and cuddling with mom and dad, we eventually got some smiles out of this little guy, and boy was it worth it. It was a pleasure meeting you and welcome to the world! :)

Orlando and Kristen -- Brooklyn Bridge Session

Believe it or not, even in single digit weather, there's enough love to keep us warm. I ventured out with these newlyweds to the Brooklyn Bridge for a fun photo session a few weeks ago. Even though our fingers and cheeks were numb by the end, it was so sweet seeing the way they laughed and enjoyed each other. Thanks for the memories, guys!

2013 Wrap-up

Merry Christmas, everyone! I'm finally posting again after several months of intense wedding planning and general busyness. I'd like to highlight a few favorites from these last months. From newborn sessions to professional portraits, I had great fun meeting new people and capturing them at their best. Enjoy!

Goodbye 2013! Thanks for the memories -- 2014 is going to be a big one.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year, and all the joy, hope, and love that comes from knowing Jesus. Peace!

Sharlene's Makeup Session

All girls know that while inner beauty shines like no other, a little makeup in the right places can dramatically enhance your God-given features. I present to you Sharlene, a friend who is in the process of launching her own makeup business. Checkout her artistry here with these gorgeous models!

Johnson Family Session

Transformers - check. Snow boots - check. New baby brother - double check. I had so much fun with the Johnson family for their photo session a few weeks ago. It  snowed the night before, so I had a feeling we might be able to get some outdoor shots. Upon arrival, not only did the boys give me a grand tour of the house, they showed off their favorite toys (including an Optimus Prime mask) and gave me their best smiles (you'll see what I mean). What an adorable family. Thanks for the laughs!

Sneak Peeks: Silvett & Horton Anniversary Session

This weekend I had the pleasure of spending Saturday morning with Silvett and Horton in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Known for its art district and cool architecture, we had a blast wandering  through the cobblestone streets and charming cafes nestled between the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. Silvett requested a photo session to celebrate their third year anniversary and to capture the best of NY before they relocate to Florida. The timing and location couldn't be more perfect. What I enjoy most about this couple is that they still have the glow and sweetness of newlyweds, three years into marriage (you'll see what I mean). They're awesome people and I'm going to miss them when they leave! Enjoy the sneak peeks!

Theo's First Birthday

The birthday boy showed up to his own party with sleep in his eyes, but before you know it, he was flooded with hugs and kisses from friends and family. I had so much fun celebrating Theo's first birthday party a few weeks ago at The Cube by River Park. His mom planned the party with great care  (check out the amazing cake and decorations!) and personally, it was great seeing friends from long ago. Happy birthday, sweet Theo! I can't wait to celebrate with you again soon. :)

Summer Wedding: Lawrence & Jissenia

I've been a bit behind with my photography lately because I started a new job and all kinds of other fun things came up. Nevertheless, I'm SO SO thrilled to have been a part of Lawrence and Jissenia's special day earlier this summer. They're an incredibly fun-loving and sweet couple -- not to mention photogenic! I had a blast shooting with Albert at the Planting Fields Arboretum, then they partied the night away at Lands End for the reception. Below are just a few of my favorites. Congratulations Lawrence and Jissenia!! Wishing you all the best to a new life together!

Scouts Honor!

Move over, Girl Scouts! (You can leave the cookies, though.) The Boy Scouts have taken over and they're looking sharper (and cuter) than ever! I had the incredible opportunity to spend an afternoon with the boy scouts from my church last week. Dave, their fearless leader, bought a photo session through a service auction fundraiser a few months ago because he wanted the boys to have a keepsake of their time together.

It was nothing but great fun and laughter as the scouts tumbled and rumbled in the park. It didn't take long for them to warm up to the camera, especially when I asked about their favorite superhero. Well, we got superheroes alright, and a whole lot more!

Sally Maternity Session

When Sharlene approached me about a maternity photo session as a gift for her friend, I was impressed by such a thoughtful idea. These were her friends from college, she explained, and as an up-and-coming makeup artist, she was excited about getting her friend all dolled up. We had a wonderful time with Sally and Ralph that day. You could tell that Ralph would be a great dad; he got a head start with communicating to his kid in utero (see below)!

Congrats Sally and Ralph!

Bryant Park Carousel Birthday

It was a lovely afternoon in Bryant Park and by 3:30 p.m. the carousel was filled with some of the cutest kids ever. Clover's mom put together a beautiful party -- complete with cupcakes, gift bags, and unlimited carousel rides, of course. With Clover turning 3 and her upcoming debut as big sister, there's a lot to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Clover!

Central Park Proposal

If you happened to be in Central Park this past Tuesday and saw a girl with a big camera hiding behind a tree, seemingly fixated on a happy couple enjoying a picnic in the distance ... well, I'm proud to say, that's no other than yours truly. Tommy called earlier and asked if I could follow them discreetly through an afternoon in the park before he proposed. I told him I had my military camouflage ready. (To be honest, I've never felt more like the paparazzi or some crazy stalker. But hey, it's New York -- I blend right in!)

What was surprising, however, was being caught "red-handed" by Patty when she was on her way back from the bathroom, right BEFORE Tommy was about to pop the question (you can see his reaction below). We both thought she would be returning from another direction and I was doing my best to remain hidden, but next thing you know I hear Patty calling my name from behind.

"Hey Winnie, what are you doing here?"

"Er..." (I'm blushing and trying to cover my camera gear with my free hand ) "I'm just... waiting for some friends here..." (awkward!!)

If you know me, you know that I'm probably the world's worst liar. Thankfully Patty took the bait and moved on. Tommy then proposed with a pre-recorded message on his iphone recounting highlights of their relationship and eventually got on one knee. It was incredibly sweet and precious.

Congratulations, you two! I'm SO thankful to be a part of your engagement story, albeit in a random stalkerish way. All the best to the journey toward marriage and happily ever after!
